ECFA Profile ECFA was established in 1964, for the purpose of contributing international development cooperation, through application and transfer of technology by means of consulting services based on Japanese technology and experience. ECFA is a non-profit independent organization authorized by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. As Japanese ODA started to take major role in international development, ECFA started to maintain close contact with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and the Federation of Economic Organizations (KEIDANREN), in addition to METI and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. As a private professional organization which has close relation with the government, ECFA takes lead in advocating role of Japanese consultants in ODA system, making propositions for ODA policy and direction addressed to the government and political circles. ECFA members are actively involved in study committee established in ECFA, exchange of opinions with the government and ODA agencies for more effective ODA implementation. ECFA opens its windows to foreign consulting firms, development countries' authorities and development project agencies in order to facilitate opportunities for contacting with Japanese consulting firms. We also assist the promotion of potential development projects, collaboration, and joint work with foreign consulting firms. Business Promotion ECFA extends assistance to member firms by: Conducting project finding and formation studies, Opening new frontiers in developing consulting, Creating improved environment for consulting business, and Providing the member's database both on Internet and brochure to facilitate the marketing of services in response to inquiries from business organization, foreign governments, Multilateral Development Banks and other potential clients. |
